Glyos Customs Step-by-Step- Updated!   1 comment

I’m working on a Glyos commission and a couple additional figures that will end up being for same. I thought it’d be fun to take some quick pictures as the painting progressed so that people could see how I work.  Here’s what we’ve got so far:

Here’s all the parts of what we’re working with… there’s three figures here.  I’m going for primarily blue battle suits, with an as-yet undecided secondary color, and some silver elements.  The Sarvos is supposed to be something of a test-bed unit, with some safety markings on him and a prototype gun and bitchin’ flight pack.  The Buildman Gendrone is going to be his escort type support guy.

Battle Exellis   1 comment

I painted this guy up for Phil Reed before meeting him this evening.  Phil didn’t have any toys painted by me other than the shiny E.killer, so I had to fix that 😉  The color homage should be apparent.

Neo Eyezon Mark Nagata X Prometheum5 Collab!   1 comment

Hi all,

Mark posted a photo, on the Max Toy Co site so I guess I can now, too.  Over the summer, Mark asked me if I was interested in doing a run of Neo Eyezons, to which I could not have said ‘yes’ more excitedly!  More details are forthcoming, but I painted my figures a couple weeks back and shipped them to Mark.  They will be sold as a two-pack with a Neo Eyezon by Mark, and that’s all I can say for now.  Here’s a couple photos of the beasts, though.  This project got to act as sort of the debut for Monster Kolor’s Hawaii Kolor set, which comes with trial-size bottles of great colors and a toy for $40, and is the perfect kit for anyone who’s been thinking about trying to paint toys, or airbrush in general!  I based the colors for my Neo Eyezons on the Bullmark Hawaii King Ghidorah, since I love green!  😀  Here’s a couple shots before they shipped off to Mark.

While I was painting these guys, I also whipped up this little guy using the colors for myself, since all the Eyezons went off in a box to Mark:

New Toys!   Leave a comment

Got some new toys with some unbelievable paint.

Max Toy Co mini Xam painted by Mark Nagata.

Accompanied by an unpainted white mini Maxx that is just gorgeous!

I also purchased this mind-blowing Toygraph Death Climax UFO Monster Gunhead in yummy flesh vinyl painted by the master, Dead Presidents.  Walker pulled out all the stops, and his crazy colors and Monster Kolor paint really shine on this massive beast.

The Guhead is supposed to terrorize Toygraph’s Space Troopers, but Dead Presidents’s new Cosmic Squadron troopers do everything the Space Troopers set out to do better, bigger, and much prettier.

No-mad escapes from the beast’s clutches, lines up the shot his life depends on, and holds his breath!

Prometheus Rising Studios Photos on Le Studio Plastique!   Leave a comment

The Le Studio Plastique exhibit The 100 Greatest Kaiju Battles went live this morning, and it is even cooler than I could have expected.  The curator, Olivier, did a fantastic job organizing the various photos by theme, and you should look through all of them.

Killer Culture Invades the East Coast Chogokin Summit!   Leave a comment

This weekend was the East Coast Chogokin Summit, the gathering of CollectionDX and ToyBoxDX members, both local and from afar.  Many homegrown efforts were shown alongside vintage and modern toy trades, including Incubot‘s Nekosaursus vinyl, Nekobot USBs, and the unofficial debut of the Voltron Lion Force USB figure; a peak at what Sanjeev’s Brown Noize Productions is working on; and of course, Killer Culture’s first wave of E.killer resin figures.  The first wave successfully sold out at the show,so check this spot for news on what’s coming next!

Real X Head ‘Cray-vil’ Custom   1 comment

I painted this Mutant Evil at the end of school, before the epiphany that was Monster Kolor arrived.  I painted this guy with Cel Vinyl acrylics, and was trying some more loose sprays and color fades, and another ‘real-type’ look using a muted color palette.  The skin is glossy and the denim-colored shorts and wrist-bands are matte, and the two different finishes really add to the effect overall.
