Foe Gallery is having a Monster Invitational show in July that I was fortunate enough to be asked to participate in. The lineup looks awesome, and I am totally humbled to be asked into a show alongside such good dudes. I will start postings pics of my pieces next week, but won’t post them all before the show opens. The show is for vinyl kaiju, but there might even be an exclusive bonus Killer Culture debut for people that go to the show 😉
Here’s the info from the FOE page:
July 8th – July 22nd, 2011
FOE has curated a group show paying homage to monsters. The idea of monsters is as old as civilization and what society defines as monstrous changes and morphs through time and culture. Depending on when and where you grew up, it’s likely some version of monster, urban myth or story shaped your fears and nightmares. No one escapes this rite of passage. Come out to see how 20 different artists from westernmass to Japan interpret their own unique fears, repulsions and pleasures. It may sound scary, but monsters are fun too, and fears confronted (or exercised) are fears conquered.
Stephen Blickenstaff, Michael Bracco/Spaghetti Kiss, Paddy Charles, Bob Conge/Plaseebo, Dream Rocket, Halfbad Toyz, Paul Kaiju, Jeff Lamm/Greasebat, Brian Mahony/Guumon, Ben Mininberg/Prometheus Rising Studio, Monster Worship, Mark Nagata/Max Toy Co, Michael Nordstrom, Osiris Orion, Ben Reigle, Todd Robertson, Splurrt, Eric Talbot, Velocitron, Dave Wach
Clear red vinyl with opaque and clear paint. The black lining was an experiment that I’m pretty happy with.

This set was made for an Open Call Judged Resin show at Toy Art Gallery, opening this Friday, June 10. The set features a prototype-colored ‘X-gal’ E. killer, a weathered, down and dirty Safrinin Microfighter, and a bonus S. muderious magnetic mini macro-culture.
The Microfighter set is now available at TAG. Just look at my pics of the toys, not there;s.

Impelaizer is a mean alien warmachine that shows up in Ultraman Mebius and wrecks house. It features three devastating beam weapons and the ability to regenerate damage. Impelaizer shows up in the middle of the city and puts the hurt on Ultraman Mebius. I won’t spoil the whole episode, but a surprise guest star has to show up and help save the day. This figure comes from Banpresto as a crane game prize, and is awesome.

This is sort of an oddball post, but I realized that my Studio Plastique Kaiju Battles photos never ended up on the site like I promised. It’s been a quiet week while things are happening behind the scenes, so here’s some kaiju in the real world photos for you all. Images are 3000 pixels on their largest dimension, so you guys can resize them to desktop backgrounds no problem.

This guy was the main event from the Khorne-inspired painting frenzy, and for my own collection. I painted the inside with red pearl and then clear red, and painted the details from the outside. The burning hot markings and leaking power were finished tinted white lines applied with a razor sharp brush.
