Vira Seijin hails from Ultra Seven and is totally silly looking. The sculpt screams ‘real plant’ to me, so I had at it on a flesh vinyl blank. This guy will be at the FOE Monster Invitational Show in July.

Transformers Dark of the Moon Bluestreak (Sidearm Sideswipe) 1 comment
The new Transformers toys are really spectacularly made. I might not actually enjoy the movies, but there’s no denying that the films had a hugely positive influence on the toys and the line in general. The biggest problem with the current movie toys is that Hasbro is pretty cheap about paint, so the figures always look pretty flat compared to their on-screen counterparts. Compare the above and after the jump photos to this shot of the figure out of the package:
Yuck. This guy is a Wal*Mart exclusive repaint of Sidearm Sideswipe, a concept Corvette in a pretty slick homage-filled rally car deco. It makes a pretty serviceable movie Bluestreak. I up-detailed this guy while preserving the scheme and details that made this version cool. Tons and tons of pics after the fold.
FOE Monster Invitational Show Now Online! Leave a comment
The FOE Monster Invitational Show opened last night, and pics from the show look fantastic! Really bummed I couldn’t make it, but at least now I can see all of the entries online at FOE. Look for PRS’s customs, with extensive photo shoots coming to the site in a few.

The Mightin sculpt is a fun little mini, and receptive to all kinds of fun colors. This blue and green one will be at the FOE Monster Invitational Show on July 8.
Max Toy Co Minis Leave a comment
You can never have enough Max Toy Co minis, especially now that there’s two new molds: Dragigus and Drazorus. These two are the first release on glow vinyl, painted by Mark Nagata.
Every day it seems like Captain Maxx has more and more villains to face!
Killer Culture Microcultures debuting at FOE! 1 comment
Debuting at the FOE Monster Invitational is the newest Killer Culture release! As fast as the Joint Killer Culture Defense Force (JKCDF) can develop new weapons to combat the Killer Culture, new threats seem to emerge. These new Microcultures are just as fearsome and dangerous as their larger kin, but capable of swarming en masse!
As part of the Monster Invitational Show, Jim (FOE’s esteemed owner) was looking for smaller goodies from the contributors that could be up at the counter looking pretty. I’ve had some of these Micros sculpted for a while now, so the opportunity seemed perfect to get a couple more done and get a new mold made! I got some nice feedback on the prototype Micro featured in the TAG Battle Pack, so it seemed like good timing to get cranking on more. These guys will be available individually for just $5 exclusively at FOE, show opening July 8th. For $5 you get a one-inch resin booger sprayed with pretty Monster Kolor. As an added bonus and some play value, each Micro also features a small rare-earth magnet in the base, so you can stick them to your fridge, desk, pet robot, or wherever!
With Wraith Pheyden for scale. Lots more pics after the jump!
Motorbot Clears and Pearls Leave a comment
Just messing around with some figs that came last week. Motorbot has really upped his game with two new sculpts and a metric ton of unpainted clear and pearly figures. The colors and finish on these are incredible, and there’s still more for you to pick up in his store!
Max Toy Co ‘Real Type’ Tripus Leave a comment
Because I’m feeling nice, I figured I’d give you guys a FOE Show teaser this week. This guy will be a the FOE Monster Invitational Show in July. He’s a realistic take on the mini Tripus sculpt flesh blank. I went for matte with shading on the squishy bits and shiny jade-pearl for the fish scales.
FOE Gallery Monster Invitational Opening July 8 Leave a comment
Foe Gallery is having a Monster Invitational show in July that I was fortunate enough to be asked to participate in. The lineup looks awesome, and I am totally humbled to be asked into a show alongside such good dudes. I will start postings pics of my pieces next week, but won’t post them all before the show opens. The show is for vinyl kaiju, but there might even be an exclusive bonus Killer Culture debut for people that go to the show 😉
Here’s the info from the FOE page:
July 8th – July 22nd, 2011
FOE has curated a group show paying homage to monsters. The idea of monsters is as old as civilization and what society defines as monstrous changes and morphs through time and culture. Depending on when and where you grew up, it’s likely some version of monster, urban myth or story shaped your fears and nightmares. No one escapes this rite of passage. Come out to see how 20 different artists from westernmass to Japan interpret their own unique fears, repulsions and pleasures. It may sound scary, but monsters are fun too, and fears confronted (or exercised) are fears conquered.
