After painting the prototype 1/12 Bounce Tortoise green, it seemed obvious that the first production model would be tan. This suit has been assigned to a desert world deployment for too long and shows it. This unit also features a rotary armor piercing cannon instead of the standard beam cannon. He is on display and for sale at FOE Gallery’s Rise of the Robots Show.
This figure received much heavier weathering than normal showing off the abuse it has suffered in action. Chipping was done with acrylic paints and sponges, the rust and grime were done with acrylic washes, and the heavy layer of dust accumulation was done with pigments applied wet.
The main difference between the prototype 1/12 Tortoise and the production version is in the feet. I added a thin angled spaced to the ankle to help the feel sit flat on the ground when the legs are slightly spread. I also adjusted the spacing at the hips to allow a greater range of motion.
This is so cool! You made your own articulated toy from scratch! Congratulations. Really impressive 🙂
